The Activities

WP1: Project Management and Coordination

The management and coordination task covers all manpower needed for overall coordination of the project including detailed planning and evaluating of the different activities. The objectives of project management are to ensure a well-coordinated and effective project that involves the interests of all partners and assures cohesion of all partners and service providers.

WP2: Communication and Dissemination

Project communication and dissemination is addressed to different levels of target groups: final beneficiaries; associations, free adult education centres, schools, project partners, managing authorities of the Programme, other European projects and networks, local stakeholders, etc.

WP3: Analysis of ICT knowledge needs

To develop a questionnaire, to carry out a thorough understanding of the profile of the target group that is women aged more than 55 years of age, with a low degree of education and/or are economically inactive, in each of the partner countries and at a second level to increase the levels of informing- sensitizing the involved parties. The overall objective is to identify the ICT knowledge needs of the specific target group.

WP4: Definition of Curricula: criteria, methods, tools

The objective of WP4 is to get to a joint transnational definition of:

  1. A curriculum on basic digital competences for women aged 55+ with low level of education and economically inactive
  2. A curriculum for the training of trainers and tutors

It will be pursued through the implementation of the following activities:

  • systematization of partners’ experiences and ideas in the field of adults training in basic digital competences
  • joint design of a pattern training path for women 55+ in digital basic competences
  • joint design of methods of delivery: choice of most suitable seats and hours of delivery; methods of recruiting; certifications released; avoiding decrease in motivation and quitting, etc
  • accompanying activities needed: joint definition of a pattern programme of training of tutors and trainers, methods of selection of tutors, solutions for tutoring, certifications and credits awarded, etc.

WP5: Training of trainers

A very important aspect of the project is the methodology of training. In this sense, teachers and trainers play a key role for the success of the initiative. That’s why their action and behaviour must be carefully cared of. The activity of training of trainers and tutors deserves a specific action, meant at assuring quality of teaching and correct attitudes on the part of tutors, so to minimize risks of decrease in motivation on the part of trainees and to enhance the reaching of good levels of learning. Activities performed in this WP are:

  • the Group of Trainers select trainers having experience of teaching ICT basic competences, possibly to adult learners
  • in parallel, with the collaboration of local high schools preparing to teaching profession, they recruit tutors (about 10 per classes, each every 2 students – total about 50 tutors)
  • on the basis of the curriculum developed under WP4, the Group of Trainers organizes workshops of training of trainers (if not possessing already proven competences of teaching to adults) and tutors.

WP6: Pilot Experimentation

No good model can probably be developed without a significant phase of testing, as our circular methodology plan-do-act-check foresees. The aim of this piloting phase is exactly that of redirecting the model of the training path according to the results of the experimental phase.

Therefore the Group of Trainers puts in place all actions necessary for the delivery of courses, following indications resulting from needs analysis (WP3), exchange of best practices and model curricula (WP4): choice of venues, preparation of calendar of classes, promotion (see WP2) and enrolments

Next step is the actual delivery of courses, which must follow the criteria and methods designed in the model of training path (WP4) and use the didactic material resulting from WP5. Beneficiaries that are women aged more than 55 with low level of education and/or economically inactive will therefore be assisted by a tutor, a high school student willing to test its teaching skills.

WP7: Mainstreaming of results and exploitation

The exploitation of the results of the project is of major importance as this will be determinant for the efficiency of the project at all. In other words, this project will lose its objective if its results are not exploited in the right way. To do so, a series of tools developed and used during the project lifetime will be used like the establishment of a communication flow which will outlast the project. The emphasis given in the project to the dissemination of the project results and the involvement of a wide range of experts, decision-makers, training and educational organisations, public and private bodies in the activities organised in each region will support as well the further exploitation of the project results by building an extended network where information on results will be disseminated and exchanged. This will therefore support the long-term impact of the project. Finally, awareness will be created among regions, especially in the new Member-States, in order for them to have tested results for further exploitation. Besides this, the aim of this WP is to create some tools to support interested parties for exploiting the results produced by this project.

WP8: Quality and evaluation

Overall, the activities within WP.8 aim:

  1. to monitor the project’s progress and
  2. to evaluate the quality of its results per WP.
